This document covers how Woophone handles your data, how our SMS communications work, and the terms under which you may use our product. Last updated .

1. SMS Communications & Consent

For Twilio toll-free verification: this section is the public proof of consent for Woophone's outbound SMS program.

Program description

Woophone operates a customer messaging platform. Our SMS program sends transactional and account-related text messages to people who have provided their mobile phone number and consented to receive them. Examples include phone-number verification codes during sign-up, login security codes, account notifications, customer support replies you've requested, and replies sent by businesses that use Woophone to communicate with you after you have first contacted them.

How you opt in

You opt in to receive SMS from Woophone in any of the following ways. In each case the opt-in is voluntary and requires an affirmative action by you.

  • Account sign-up. When you create an account at app.woophone.io, you enter your mobile phone number and submit a sign-up form that explicitly states you will receive SMS messages including a verification code and account notifications. Submitting the form is your consent.
  • Adding a phone number to an existing account. Existing users who add or change their phone number complete the same SMS verification step before that number can be used.
  • Messaging us first. If you send a text message to a Woophone phone number, we may reply to your message. Sending the first message constitutes consent to receive a reply on the same thread.
  • Communications from a business that uses Woophone. Businesses use Woophone to communicate with their own customers. If you have given consent to a business directly (for example by texting them first, requesting a callback, or opting in on their own site), and that business uses Woophone to reply, you may receive messages routed through our platform on that business's behalf. The business is responsible for the consent you provided to them; this policy applies only to communications Woophone sends in its own name.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies depending on your activity. Most users receive only a small number of messages tied to specific events, such as one verification code per sign-up or login attempt and occasional account notifications. Woophone does not send bulk marketing or promotional SMS to its account holders.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Woophone does not charge you for receiving or sending SMS, but your carrier may.

HELP & STOP keywords

  • Reply HELP to any message from Woophone for assistance, or contact us at support@woophone.io.
  • Reply STOP to any message from Woophone to opt out at any time. After you reply STOP, you will receive one final confirmation message and then no further SMS from Woophone will be sent to that number.
  • You can re-subscribe at any time by replying START or by re-verifying your phone number in your account settings.

Sample messages

Your Woophone verification code is 482193. It expires in 10 minutes. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
Woophone: a new device just signed in to your account. If this wasn't you, reply HELP or visit app.woophone.io/security.

Carrier disclaimer

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SMS delivery is best-effort and depends on carrier and network conditions outside of our control.

Privacy of phone numbers

Phone numbers collected for SMS purposes are used only to deliver the messages described in this section and to authenticate your account. We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes. See our privacy policy below for details on how we handle personal data.

2. Privacy Policy

Woophone collects information that you provide directly to us when you create an account, including your name, email address, phone number, company name, and password. We also collect information automatically when you use our service, such as device information, log data, and usage information.

How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our service.
  • To verify your identity and protect against fraud, including SMS-based phone verification.
  • To send you service-related communications, including the SMS messages described in section 1.
  • To respond to your support requests.

How we share information

Woophone does not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers we use to operate Woophone (for example: cloud hosting, SMS delivery via Twilio, error tracking, transactional email) and only as needed for them to perform services for us. We may also disclose information when required by law.

Customer data on the platform

Businesses that use Woophone ("customers") store conversation data and contact information from their own end-users in the platform. Woophone processes this data on the customer's behalf as their service provider and does not use it for our own purposes. Each customer is responsible for the lawful basis under which they collect and store data from their own end-users.

Your choices

You can update or delete your account information at any time in your account settings. You can opt out of SMS by replying STOP as described in section 1. To request deletion of your data, email support@woophone.io.

3. Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Woophone, you agree to these terms. Woophone provides software that businesses use to communicate with their own customers via SMS, MMS, voice, and other channels. Your use of Woophone is subject to availability, your compliance with this policy, and the carriers and providers that we depend on for message and call delivery.

Account responsibilities

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, for the accuracy of the information you provide, and for all activity that occurs in your account. Woophone may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy or that we reasonably believe are being used unlawfully.

Service availability

Woophone is provided on an "as available" basis. We strive for high availability but make no guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Changes to these terms

We may update this document from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Woophone to:

  • Send messages to recipients who have not given you consent in accordance with applicable law (including the TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and CTIA messaging principles).
  • Send unsolicited marketing or "spam," or send messages disguised as transactional when they are promotional.
  • Send content that is unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, defamatory, or that violates intellectual-property rights.
  • Send content prohibited by carriers, including but not limited to: hate speech, sexually explicit content, illegal-substance promotion, gambling content where prohibited, or "SHAFT" content (sex, hate, alcohol, firearms, tobacco) without proper age-gating and authorization.
  • Attempt to evade carrier filtering through obfuscation, character substitution, URL shorteners, or other deceptive practices.
  • Impersonate Woophone, another business, or any other person.
  • Resell access to Woophone without prior written agreement.

Violations may result in immediate account suspension. Carriers may also block or filter messages independently of Woophone.
